What does the project offer?
Everything is in motion in the modern world. Millions of people are leaving their countries to look for better chances in other states. Qualified experts able to make use of their skills and experience are demanded all around the world. More and more of them are also coming to stay in the Czech Republic because of its high living standards and its potential for further development. The project “Selection of Qualified Foreign Workers” is a developing segment of active Czech migration policies. It supports foreign experts coming to the Czech Republic along with their families, it gives them an opportunity to obtain a permanent residence permit within a considerably shorter period than is usual, and it creates conditions under which the foreign workers can quickly and successfully integrate into the society without having to give up their culture, customs or language.
Why choose the Czech Republic?
The Czech Republic is a developed democratic country driven by a market economy, it is a member of the European Union, NATO, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The living standards in the Czech Republic are high. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) placed the Czech Republic on the 31st place among 177 countries . Czech society is not xenophobic, it appreciates all who earn their living in an appropriate way.
The opportunity to obtain a permanent residence permit
Under valid legislation, foreigners may apply for permanent residence after five years of uniterrupted stay in the Czech Republic.
Nevertheless, the project gives qualified experts the chance to apply for a permanent residence permit after two and a half years or even after one and a half year – the participants of highly qualified workers category.
Permanent residence brings you a number of rights, along with the possibility of full participation in social life. You will gain access to all social benefits, you will be able to participate actively in the labour market processes, you will be able to buy or rent real estate, and you will get a whole range of other advantages and rights.
Family? Sure!
The project is focused on supporting qualified foreign workers coming to the Czech Republic. However, your life here would not be complete without your close relatives. We take this into consideration, and support arrivals of whole families. Moving to the Czech Republic with your spouse and children is regarded as a matter of course!
High-level assistance in the occasion of loss of employment
Foreigners may stay in the Czech Republic only as long as their purpose of stay exists. So, if they are employed in the Czech Republic and lose employment, the loss of the right of residence follows automatically.
Nonetheless, the project provides qualified foreign workers with a 60 day grace period. If in the first year of your participation in the project you lose your job through no fault of your own, you still have sixty days during which you can, in co-operation with labour offices and with their help, find a new job and stay in the Czech Republic. In the course of following years of their participation in the project the participants are given the grace period also if they lose their job for other reasons, except termination of employment due to gross violation of working discipline - s. 52 (1) g of Act no. 262/2006 Sb., Labour Code.
Everything is for free!
Joining the project is free; no administration fees are collected. Nevertheless, you have to expect certain expenses necessary to meet the costs of certified translations or notarial certifications of documents needed to apply to the project.

The Czech Republic holds foreign experts in esteem and tries to prepare proper living conditions for them as well as for their family members.
